Well, we’ve just completed Day 3 here on this Giveback Journey and I have to say, it’s felt like at least a week. We have crammed so much Kona and giveback goodness in to the past 3 days, that it just feels so much longer. Which is awesome, because we still have so much more to do and see!
We started off the morning meeting with Pat, the director at The Wellness House. This house is one of Chris O’Kieffe’s main giveback focuses. It’s a place where kids who are dealing with cancer can come, get away from the sterile, hospital environment and just have fun and relax. And let me tell you, it is most certainly a relaxing place – I think we could have spent all day there! This gorgeous, huge white house is tucked away off of a main road in Annapolis and is surrounded by greenery. Everything about this place gently whispered of calm and peace. But perhaps the coolest part were these huge butterflies. The size of these things – I wish I could have grabbed a picture of one of them. I noticed them when we pulled up, but it was Pat who brought them up while we were interviewing her. To paraphrase her, she said, “We love the butterflies. I think it’s just one more thing that gives you a sense of hope.” And it’s true. It is truly magical what takes place at this Wellness House, and we’re proud to say that our Kona franchisee, Chris, is there helping them out literally whenever they call. I just can’t wait for you all to see our Annapolis section of the video. There really is something special going on with Kona here in Annapolis and his name is Chris.

After we met with Pat and just spent some time hanging out at the Wellness House, soaking in all the peace and calm, we set out for historic downtown Annapolis and the Annapolis Harbor. We had to get some shots of the area, so you could really feel like you were in this story! I took a timelapse of the harbor and the boys were out and about getting some more shots. You can’t complain when you get to spend 30 minutes of your day, sitting at the end of a pier on Annapolis Harbor, watching the boats come and go.
We ate some lunch on the harbor (which was delicious, by the way) and then we were off to Raleigh! Or so we thought. See, what was supposed to be a 5 hour drive, turned into an 8 hour drive. And well, while it’s not fun, I guess these things happen. So, for the majority of the day, this was our view.
But the great news is, we get a FULL day in Raleigh tomorrow with the Veverkas and we are so excited. And we get to stay in the same place for two nights in a row! After having driven 21 of the last 64 hours, we’re pretty thrilled about that.
Stay tuned! Great things are happening in Raleigh.
